Anthony Aldana ’27

FFP Alumnus ’23

Major: Psychology/Biology

Advice: Even though college is a time for making important decisions about your future, it’s also a place to grow, learn and make mistakes. Do’t be afraid to ask questions or reach out to help; it is all part of your journey. Additionally, be present in the moment, and challenge yourself to step outside your comfort zone. Get involved, build meaningful connections, and take full advantage of the opportunities around you. These four years will shape you in ways you can’t imagine; make the most of them.

Thatiana So ’27

Advice: Being open minded to new experiences, new perspectives, and new connections made. There is no expectation to fill, just to find what makes you happy. It’s all about finding what resonates with you and brings you fulfillment, whether it’s exploring new interests, forming meaningful relationships, or focusing on personal growth.

Sam Saquic-Tino ’27

Advice: As a fellow first-year multicultural and first-generation college student I loved to hear the advice of not being afraid of meeting new people and to put yourself out there! Whether with other students your age or upper-class students or even having a connection with a staff member, especially at the library!

Chanelle Pichardo

Major: Sociology & Anthropology
Advice: College can feel overwhelming at first, but just know that you’re not alone, everyone is adjusting and figuring things out, just like you. Don’t be afraid to say hi, start conversations, and make new friends. Some of the best moments come from simply putting yourself out there. Take each day as it comes, enjoy the little things, and don’t be afraid to try something new. College goes by quickly, so make the most of every opportunity and cherish the journey.

Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! Say hi to someone new, speak up in class, stay open minded and share your ideas proudly. The Friars Foundation Program is an amazing way to dive headfirst into college life, make friends, and start building your PC experience. You’ll get out what you put in, so give it your all, have fun, and don’t forget to enjoy the little moments along the way.

Taking the next step into college can seem overwhelming, stressful, and a big change. But do not fear because you have the support around you to make you be successful and become the leader you aspire to be. Do not hesitate to ask questions as asking them will only make you better.
